Fire crew rescued five people who became stuck in a lift at a residential care home in Newington.
Emergency services were called after the group got trapped at around 10.30am yesterday morning.
Firefighters released the door by operating the lift's override mechanism and specialist keys.
The five visitors and residents of the home phoned for assistance after the lift they were traveling in became lodged between first and ground floor.
It was thought they were trapped for about half an hour.
No one was injured.
