5ive to join kmfm at Westwood Cross Christmas lights switch on

They may have sung When the Lights Go Out, but 5ive will be making sure the lights are very much on at the Westwood Cross Christmas switch on.

The nineties boy band will be performing at the event in Thanet - which will be hosted by kmfm radio presenters - on Friday, November 22.

The shopping centre near Broadstairs last year welcomed The Only Way is Essex stars Jon and Chris Clark, and more celebrity appearances are expected to be announced soon.

Francesca Donovan, centre manager, said: “We are thrilled to confirm that 5ive will be joining us to switch on our Christmas lights.

"We have been inundated already with messages from excited fans who spotted the news on our Facebook page.

"Each year we welcome thousands of guests to our big switch-on and we hope this year will be even bigger and better than ever.

"kmfm will be presenting the event, which will include competitions and entertainment guaranteed to get guests in the Christmas spirit."

The event will kick off at 4pm, with the big switch on at 6pm. It is due to finish at 6.30pm.

The centre has also announced the return of the toy fort grotto, with its six-metre high turrets.

Open from midday on Saturday, November 9, children can meet the Father Christmas and receive a gift. It is recommended to book early.
