Flat fire at Sweyn Road, Cliftonville was 'caused by a candle'

An unattended candle is thought to have caused a flat fire.

The alarm was raised to Kent Fire and Rescue Service at 9.08pm and crews attended the property at Sweyn Road, Cliftonville.

They were told that smoke was issuing from a flat, and when they arrived, they used hose reel jets to tackle the flames.

A fire service statement said: "The cause of the fire is believed to be an unattended candle".
