Cannabis seized and man treated for burns after house fire in Dane Valley, Margate

Cannabis plants have been discovered by emergency services that were called to a house fire.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to a property in Palmer Crescent, Margate, at about 2.30pm yesterday.

Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus used jets of water to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters gave first aid to a man who had suffered burns to their legs, before passing him into the care of paramedics, who took him to the QEQM hospital for further treatment.

Police, who were called to the scene just before 3pm, discovered five marijuana plants and a quantity of the drug at the premises.

A spokesman said: "Cannabis plants were found at the property and an investigation into the suspected production of a controlled drug is ongoing."

The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
