Boy hit by car in Northdown Road, Cliftonville, airlifted to hospital with serious injuries

A child has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car.

Emergency services attended the incident in Northdown Road in Cliftonville just after 11am today after a report of a serious collision involving a vehicle and a boy.

The child was treated at the scene before being airlifted to King's College Hospital in London with potentially serious injuries.

Police shut the road while enquiries were carried out near the scene, which was close to the junction of Arthur Road.

A South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said: "Ambulance crews attended the scene following reports a child had been hit by a car.

"The air ambulance service joined us at the scene.

"The child was treated before being airlifted to King's College Hospital in London with potentially serious injuries."
