The teams - which arrived at the scene in four fire engines - carried out a search of the premises as there were fears people were still inside.

But officials have confirmed: "Everyone was accounted for and rescued two dogs were rescued.

"Several people have been treated by paramedics for the effects of breathing in smoke."

This is the latest blaze in another busy day for the county's fire service.

The A250 Halfway Road was closed as a precaution after marshes in Sheerness caught alight.

Crews attended and fought the flames using high-pressure hose reels and equipment that blankets the fire in water vapour and reduces temperatures rapidly. Emergency workers were stood down at 5.40pm.

In Chartham, six engines were called to a field alight and in Yalding three boats went up in flames in the marina, closing the River Medway.

This all happened in the same week that three fires broke out in Dartford on the day that temperatures reached a record high.

Properties were destroyed in neighbouring Essex and today a major incident has been declared in Surrey after a huge heath blaze broke out.

Several fire engines have been sent to the scene at Hankley Common where the incident is estimated to be affecting at least eight hectares of land.
