Police, fire and ambulance crews called to suspected gas leak in Cliftonville, Margate

Emergency crews rushed to a flat in a residential road last night after a suspected gas leak.

Police, fire and ambulance vehicles were scrambled to the property in Godwin Road, in Cliftonville, Margate, at about 9.30pm yesterday, after reports gas had been detected.

Paramedics arrived first, and were joined at the scene by police, fire crews and gas specialists

But following a thorough investigation, no gas leak was found.

A fire service spokesman said: "Further investigation by our specialists and the gas board determined no evidence of either a natural gas or carbon monoxide leak."

Crews left the scene at about 11pm.
