Girl, 12, injured in hit and run by a red car while trick or treating in Canterbury Road East, Ramsgate

A young girl was hurt when she was knocked down by a car - which then failed to stop.

The hit-and-run happened on Friday in Canterbury Road East in Ramsgate, where the 12-year-old victim had been trick or treating.

Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 8.30pm.

A spokesman said: "A 12-year old girl was out trick-or-treating with friends when she was involved in a collision with a red car in Canterbury Road East.

"She sustained bruising as a result of the collision. The car left the scene in the direction of Ramsgate town."
