Crews battle Margate blaze as out-of-control bonfire spreads to garage

A person was injured after an out-of-control bonfire spread to a garage.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Invicta Road, Margate, just after 7.15pm yesterday following reports the flames had spread through trees to the building.

Crews, who were joined at the incident by police, battled the blaze for almost an hour.

A fire service spokesman said: "We were called to Invicta Road, Margate, to an an out-of-control bonfire.

"One casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

"Following this incident firefighters are urging people to carefully consider the placement and size of any bonfires that are being planned."
