Huskies running loose in Margate maul cats and rabbits to death

Devastated owners of cats and rabbits say their pets have been mauled to death by a pair of rampaging huskies this morning.

Some neighbours were left distraught after discovering their beloved pets had fallen victim to the powerful animals.

It has been reported on social media that at least three cats and three rabbits have been killed, although this is yet to be confirmed.

Other cats have been injured in the attacks, but the exact number is not yet known.

There were sightings of the huskies in Millmead Road and other surrounding streets, including Friends Avenue and Sarah Gardens.

It is understood the dogs have since been collected by their owner.

A Thanet District Council spokesperson said: "The council has received reports of this incident and the matter is now with Kent Police."

Police have since confirmed they received a number of reports that two dogs had escaped from a property and attacked other animals in the Friends Avenue area of Margate.

"Officers attended to ensure there was no risk to any members of the public and established that the dogs were back with their owner, who was visited and given advice around keeping his animals secure," a spokesman said.

"No criminal offences or injuries to members of the public have been reported."
