A short film shot in Thanet is among the prize-winners at the Prix Europa film festival.

Twelve actors from England, mainland Europe and America were asked to star in Washed Up, which was filmed at Botany Bay beach in Kingsgate between Cliftonville and Broadstairs during the summer.

Three of the English actors come from Kent - Karen Burrows from Chatham, and mother and son, Karol and Ben Steele from Dover.

The three-minute film tells the story of twelve castaways from different countries who must work together in order to survive.

It was placed second among the six entries from the United Kingdom and fifth overall from the 24 entries from 14 countries across Europe at the 22nd annual festival in Berlin, which highlights the best productions in television, film and emerging media.

The makers are hoping that the film will be shown on British terrestrial television later in the year.
