Time is running out if you want to nominate individuals or teams for this year's Thanet Sports Awards.

Nominations close at midnight on Thursday October 20.

The Thanet Sports Awards celebrates "all things sport" and has been widely acclaimed as one of the biggest and best sports awards in Kent.

Martyn Cassell, Chairman of the Thanet Sport Network which organises the awards, said: "Nominations are coming in thick and fast, with a good range of sports and age groups represented.

"This is the last chance for clubs, coaches, teachers, family and friends to nominate individuals and teams.

"The only conditions are that nominations must be residents of Thanet or members of Thanet-based clubs, and nominations must be for the period September 1 2010 to August 31 2011.

"Don’t forget that we only need one nomination. There is no need to nominate the same person over and over again because it will be decided on quality and not votes."

Local businesses have taken the opportunity once again to support the awards, with all 11 awards now sponsored.

Orbit South Housing Association is one of the largest registered social landlords in Thanet and has chosen to sponsor the Sportsman of the Year and Team of the Year awards.

Karen Campbell, Orbit South’s Community Investment Officer, said: "We are proud to sponsor the Thanet Sports Awards because we believe individuals do make a difference and that they should be given the recognition that they deserve."

Online nomination is available atwww.thanet.gov.uk/sportsawards until midnight on Thursday October 20 and the award ceremony itself will be hosted by KMFM’s Johnny Lewis at the Margate Winter Gardens on the evening of Wednesday November 23.
