Man airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after 'stabbing' near Iceland in Margate

A man has been seriously injured in a suspected stabbing near a supermarket.

Kent Police found the badly injured man behind Iceland in College Walk in Margate at about 5pm, yesterday after being called to reports of concern for a man's welfare.

Witness reports suggest the man, who is in his 30s and from Ramsgate, was stabbed multiple times after talking with another man in the street.

Police confirmed he was injured in the neck and arms.

The air ambulance was called and he was treated by paramedics and the air ambulance crew before being airlifted to a London hospital.

He is said to be conscious and breathing.

A section of the road was cordoned off and today forensic officers are still examining the scene.

An eyewitness told KentOnline: "Forensics are scanning area for evidence after a male was stabbed I believe."

Detective Sergeant Sheena Barrell said: "The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently unexplained.

"This area is frequented by a lot of people and we would ask anyone who believes they have details on this incident to call us."
