Man charged with escaping lawful custody and assaulting a police officer after arrest in connection with burglary in Margate

A man is due at crown court next month after being charged with escaping lawful custody.

Patrick Dandas also faces charges of burglary, possessing a knife and assaulting a police officer.

The four charges were authorised following a report of a burglary in Margate.

It is alleged Dandas targeted a home in Clifton Gardens in the afternoon on Saturday, April 10.

The 26-year-old was charged with burglary and possessing a knife in connection with the incident.

Dandas, of Nixon Avenue, Margate, was also charged with assaulting a police officer while he was being detained on Wednesday on suspicion of the burglary.

He has also been charged with escaping lawful custody at Margate Police Station on Thursday.

Dandas appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, May 17.
