Man in court following thefts from Co-op stores in Whitstable and Ramsgate and Tesco Express in Herne Bay

A man has been charged after hundreds of pounds worth of products were reportedly stolen from Co-op stores and a Tesco Express.

The thefts are reported to have taken place across supermarkets in Herne Bay, Whitstable and Ramsgate.

Meat and other items amounting to £79 were allegedly stolen from the Tesco Express store in Sea Street, Herne Bay on February 12.

On March 6, a total of £126 worth of meat and laundry items were said to have been taken from the Co-op store in Oxford Street, Whitstable.

The following day, similar items worth a total of £116 were claimed to have been stolen from the Co-op in Grange Road, Ramsgate.

An investigation by the Thanet Victim Based Crime Team into the three alleged shoplifting reports resulted in the arrest of Jordan Best.

The 38-year-old, of no fixed address, was charged with three counts of shoplifting and was due to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court via virtual link today.
