A man has been arrested after allegedly crashing a stolen moped in Broadstairs.

Officers were on patrol in The Broadway at about 9.45pm yesterday when they saw a moped which a short time later was involved in a collision.

A search of the area was carried out and a 20-year-old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking following a report the moped had been stolen from Selbourne Road in Margate on Saturday (September 14).

The man was also arrested on suspicion of driving offences including dangerous driving.

He remains in custody while inquiries are ongoing.
