Man hit by vehicle in Caxton Road in Garlinge, Margate, flown to London hospital in serious condition

A man has been flown to hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services attended the incident in Caxton Road in Garlinge, Margate, just after 1am and air ambulance crews airlifted the man to a London hospital.

The white car involved in the collision had left the scene before police arrived.

Following enquiries in the area, a 39-year-old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of offences including failing to stop after a collision, and was taken into custody.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or the car beforehand, or who has private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area to contact them.

A SECAmb spokesman said the man was assessed and treated at the scene before being airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
