Knife-wielding man tries to get into shop in Station Road in Westgate-on-sea

A man wielding a knife approached a shop worker and then tried to get into a village store.

The suspect went up to the victim in Station Road in Westgate-on-Sea just before 6am on Friday and then tried to gain entry to the shop before running off towards Norman Road.

No serious injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as white, clean-shaven, about 5ft 11ins tall, of average build and with short dark hair.

He is believed to have been wearing a dark puffer jacket, black trousers with white lines down the sides and a black hat and scarf. He was also carrying a dark holdall.

Anyone who saw the incident or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the suspect is asked to call police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 46/46935/20.
