A one-of-a-kind attraction opening in Margate this weekend promises visitors a unprecedented glimpse at the supernatural.

Margate Museum of Monstrosities opens its doors on Saturday, July 21 displaying a collection of exhibits never intended to be viewed by the public.

Quite what is on show at the Media Centre in King Street is being kept under wraps, but managing director Vicki Pepper’s advice is to expect the unexpected.

She said: "None of the stuff on view has ever been seen before outside private collections and was previously thought to exist only in myth and legend.

"It’s a display so unworldly it may make you question your very existence."

We do know a mermaid skeleton is one of the artefacts on show, but the curious will have to take a tour to find out more.

Tickets are £4.95 for adults and £3.55 with concessions. Admission is by tour only which takes approximately 40 minutes. Tours run daily every 45 minutes and every 30 minutes on Saturdays.

Please be aware that under 16s must be accompanied by an adult and young children may need parental guidance.
