Air ambulance called to Dalby Square, Cliftonville, Margate

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.

The air ambulance was called in after the accident in Margate on Saturday at around 11.45am.

A man from Margate, aged in his 50s, was airlifted to hospital with serious leg injuries.

Medics spent about an hour treating the biker at the scene, between Edgar Road and Ethelbert Crescent, before he was airlifted.

The helicopter landed in a nearby play area with fire crews also sent to the scene.

The biker was riding a large Harley Davidson bike while the car involved is a silver Honda Civic.

The car driver is said to have been trying to pull into a parking bay when the accident happened.

A witness said a large crowd of more than 70 people gathered as the emergency services dealt with the incident.

As of 1.55pm, the area was still cordoned off with traffic being diverted through the town centre. It was only re-opened around 5pm.
