Cliftonville: Pensioner dies after being hit by motorbike

A pensioner in his 90s has died after he was hit by a motorbike in Thanet.

Police have arrested the suspected rider and pillion passenger on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the incident in Cliftonville yesterday afternoon.

Officers were called just after 2.30pm after the pedestrian was hit in Northdown Road, but he died at the scene.

The rider and passenger - aged 22 and 24 - suffered a wrist and shoulder injury and were taken to hospital.

The pair, from Broadstairs and Ramsgate, have been released under investigation by police.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a black, silver and yellow Honda CBR motorbike being driven in the area.
