A police plane circled overhead as armed police swooped following reports of knifemen roaming a neighbourhood.

Four people were arrested following the disturbance in Newington, Ramsgate, last night.

Officers attended St John’s Avenue and Auckland Avenue for a number of hours from around 6.40pm.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to reports of a disturbance in Newington Road, Ramsgate, at around 6.40pm.

“Armed officers attended following a report that several individuals had been seen with bladed weapons. The area was searched, with the assistance of the National Police Air Service.

“No injuries were reported however four people have been arrested and officers remain in the area where they are carrying out enquiries.”
