Ramsgate gang rape: protest outside former pizza takeaway

Police were called to disperse a group of people following reports of a protest outside the building where a young girl was gang raped.

Officers rushed to Northwood Road, Ramsgate, this afternoon and spent two hours there until the group dispersed.

Last week four men were found guilty of the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl who had turned to them for directions.

The shocking attack on the drunken youngster happened as she was heading home and the men were returning from a night out.

After promising her they would help her, the evil gang guided the vulnerable teenager to a flat above the 555 pizza and kebab shop in Northwood Road, Ramsgate, last September.

The four men were remanded in custody pending reports on the danger they pose but they were all warned they face long sentences in July.

It has not been revealed how many people were involved in the protest today or if it was connected to the court case.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called at 2.35pm on Monday 29 May 2017 following a report that a group of people had gathered outside a property in Northwood Road, Ramsgate.

"Officers attended and remained at the location until approximately 4.30pm when the group dispersed.

"No offences were reported."
