Police have arrested a man in Italy after an alleged rape in Ramsgate.

Rafiullah Hamidy was on Kent Police's most wanted list following the sexual assault report in the Northwood Road area on September 18 last year.

The 24-year-old was detained in Taranto, in the Apulia region of southern Italy, on Monday.

It came Kent Police secured a European Arrest Warrant.

Hamidy is now due to appear in court in Italy for an extradition hearing.
