Royal Harbour Approach closed as Kent County Council lead training exercise in Ramsgate Tunnel

Drivers face rush-hour delays as a harbour road is shut for a 999 crews' exercise.

The A253 Royal Harbour Approach from Canterbury Road East to Military Road in Ramsgate has been closed because of a large-scale training exercise.

It is likely to remain shut into the evening.

The exercise has been staged to test emergency crews' response to a so-called "serious incident" in the Ramsgate Tunnel.

KCC has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Traffic is being diverted via the A255 Canterbury Road East, B2054 London Road, Grange Road, St Augustine's Road, Paragon Promenade and Military Road.
