A teenager was arrested and taken to hospital following a seafront crash.

Emergency services were called to Marine Drive in Margate following the single-vehicle collision.

A picture taken at the scene shows crowds gathered around the car after it crashed and knocked over a streetlight.

Police confirmed officers were called shortly after 11.30pm on Saturday to the incident.

A spokesman said: "An 18-year-old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs and released pending further inquiries.

"He was taken to the hospital for treatment to injuries."
