Police were called to a pig on the loose in Margate this afternoon.

These pictures, posted on the Thanet Chat Facebook page, show the spotted swine laying in rubble from a roadworks site in St Andrew's Close.

Officers are at the scene.

Reports suggest officers managed to secure the pig in a wheelie-bin before taking it away in the back of a police van.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 1pm to St Andrews Close, Margate following reports of a pig in the road.

"Officers attended and moved it to safety."
