Two arrests after drugs raid at South Eastern pub in Margate Road, Ramsgate

Two people have been arrested after police stormed a pub in a drugs raid.

Officers descended on the South Eastern in Margate Road, Ramsgate to carry out a search warrant.

The raid happened yesterday morning where suspected MDMA pills and cocaine were seized.

A large police presence remained in the area throughout most of the day.

One eyewitness, who did not wish to be named, said: “There has been a major raid at the South Eastern.

“Earlier in the morning, 14 police turned up with battering rams to get into the premises.

“They came mob-handed and they must’ve had intel.

“Police were everywhere and they surrounded the place completely.”

A spokesman for the force confirmed today officers carried out a search warrant at a property in Margate Road, Ramsgate yesterday morning.

“Substances suspected to be MDMA pills and cocaine were seized by police, along with a quantity of cash,” he said.

“Two people from Ramsgate, a 51-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were both arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

“They were later bailed to return to the police station on 3 August, pending further inquiries.”
