Elderly woman robbed and attacked by two boys in Dover

A 90-year-old woman was taken to hospital after she was robbed by two young boys - one of whom is thought to be just 10 years old.

It happened at 3.10pm on Saturday when the woman was walking up Cowgate Hill in Dover.

She was approached from behind by two boys, one believed to be riding a bike similar to a BMX.

One of the boys grabbed the victim and pulled her backwards, causing her to fall.

He then took her purse and mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

She was left with head and arm injuries and was taken to an east Kent hospital.

One boy was around 10-years-old, about 4ft with dark brown hair.

He was wearing dark jeans and a dark grey hooded top.

The second boy, on a bicycle, was slightly older with dark brown hair and was wearing dark jeans and a dark blue top.

Investigating officer Detective Hannah Parker of Kent Police said: "This was a nasty attack on an elderly lady who has been left very distressed by the incident.

"This sort of incident is thankfully rare and we are carrying out several lines of enquiry.

"We want to thank the witnesses who have come forward already but we urge anyone who was in the area at the time and might have information which could help our investigation to get in touch."
