Ebbsfleet United midfielder Ebou Adams signs for Forest Green Rovers

Ebbsfleet midfielder Ebou Adams is back in the Football League with Forest Green Rovers.

The League 2 side have paid an undisclosed fee to bring Adams to Gloucestershire on a two-year contract.

Adams, a Gambia international, was one of the seven Fleet players under contract for the 2019/20 season at the start of the summer.

He's the second of that group to move on after Michael Cheek joined Bromley.

Ebbsfleet signed Adams last summer following his release from Norwich City, who scouted the midfielder while he was at Dartford.

The 23-year-old made 40 appearances in a Fleet shirt and he joins a Rovers side who reached the League 2 play-off semi-finals last season.

Adams said: “I watched the play-offs and the team that caught my eye were Forest Green.

“The way they played their football, they looked like a good club. I never thought, at the time, I would come and join them.

“I was on international duty and I got a call saying that Forest Green were interested and I couldn’t say no, it’s a great club."

Forest Green boss Mark Cooper said: “He’s another good young prospect and the kind of box-to-box midfielder we haven’t got, that pure legs and destructiveness.

“He has quality on the ball, something we are going to work with, and he is highly thought of.

“It was only due to the fact that Ebbsfleet have got well-documented issues that we’ve managed to get him for a nominal fee and a big thank you to Garry Hill there for making it run smoothly.”
