The seven best ways to avoid the World Cup game this weekend

Not a big football fan? Don't worry, there are plenty of ways to avoid the match this weekend.

While World Cup fever is sweeping across most of Kent, there are some safe havens this Saturday for those who really couldn't care less.

Here's our pick of the best ways to avoid the World Cup:

1 Visit a medieval pageant

While the rest of Kent will be screening Saturday's game on every available device, Canterbury has decided to do something different.

Instead of football, visitors can see five giants, a king, and a host of medieval marauders.

More than 200 people will be taking part in the event, which recreates Henry II's pilgrimage to the city back in 1174.

Why not enjoy the warm weather on Saturday at one of the county's finest beaches?

While there's no guarantee you won't bump into a football fan or two, soaking up the sunshine is sure to soothe the pain.

Temperatures are set to remain in the mid-twenties across Kent's coastline for most of the day, according to Met Office experts.

With sunny weather predicted along Kent's coast this Saturday, the popular amusement park could provide a fun escape from watching England face Sweeden.

The park has a range of rides, roller disco, arcade games, bumper cars, and there will even be live music from Lee "Scratch" Perry on Saturday night.

Favourites include Brockhill Country Park near Hythe, White Horse Country Park in Detling and Lullingstone Country Park near Eynsford.

Run and managed by Kent County Council, each spot provides something new to discover.

As Roger Federer competes in a bid to win his seventh title, spectators will be tucking in to the wonderful red fruit.

So, if you can't stand watching the England team kick a ball around, why not watch people hit them with a racquet instead?

If there's one thing you can rely on this Saturday, it's that Kent's shopping centres will be far less crowded than usual.

There's plenty of places to choose from, including Bluewater in Dartford, Ashford's designer outlet and Hempstead Valley in Gillingham.

They are also all air-conditioned, for anyone trying to avoid this weekend's extreme temperatures.

However, if you do have a change of heart, here are the best places in Kent to catch this Saturday's game
