CLLR SANDY EZEKIEL: "...I hope that it is not yet another false dawn"

THE future of the multi-million pound redevelopment of Margate Football Club’s Hartsdown Park stadium could be decided in the next week.

The club say it has got funding for the scheme to reinstate the pitch, upgrade facilities, terraces and stands, and commercial development including a hotel, pub, leisure facilities, creche and health centre.

Thanet council leader Cllr Sandy Ezekiel said: “We will meet with club directors next week. To date there has been no evidence of funding, and we have yet to receive a full business and financial plan that is satisfactory.

“This will be the fifth scheme put to us by the club and I hope that it is not yet another false dawn. We want Margate FC to be alive and thriving but we insist that our recommendations are met fully.”

Cllr Ezekiel has been invited to a meeting of the club’s supporters at Margate Winter Gardens next week where he will explain the latest situation.
