Costa Coffee in Sandwich has sponsored hockey and netball teams at Sir Roger Manwood's School

Costa Coffee in Sandwich has sponsored the hockey and netball teams at Sir Roger Manwood’s School.

Goldex Investments, which is a Costa Coffee franchise, has pledged the funds for new kit which the pupils were sporting at an event last week.

The hockey and netball teams met with Goldex employees at the Costa Coffee in New Street.

Alex Pomeroy, marketing administrator, said: “Taking an active role in sports is beneficial for the health and development of children.

“It is wonderful to see how enthusiastic the pupils of Sir Roger Manwood’s School are. I speak on behalf of Goldex Investments when I say how proud we are to sponsor the hockey and netball teams of such an exceptional school.”

The Sandwich branch of Costa opened in August last year at the former Whites of Kent premises.

Chris Pearce, head of PE at Sir Roger Manwood’s, said: “We are very grateful to Costa Sandwich for agreeing to sponsor our senior boys’ hockey and girls’ netball squads.

“The deteriorating state of funding in state education means budgets are incredibly tight. To be able to provide our flagship school teams with brand new playing kit provides a real feel-good factor and team identity for the students.”
