Medway Talk: Time for Change - The Health and Cognitive Implications of Daylight Saving Time

Join us on Wednesday 22 May at the Medway Campus as Dr Aiste Steponenaite from the Medway School of Pharmacy shares exciting insights into daylight saving time.
Daylight Saving Time (DST) has been a long-standing practice in many regions, requiring people to adjust their clocks twice a year, either losing or gaining one hour of sleep. While the primary goal of DST is to make better use of natural daylight and conserve energy, its broader implications on human health and cognition remain a subject of growing concern.

In this free research talk, open to anyone in the community, Senior Lecturer Dr Aiste Steponenaite will discuss the multifaceted effects of DST beyond the clock adjustments, delving into potential health and cognitive risks associated with these semi-annual changes to answer a key question - is continuing DST in our modern society a necessity?

Medway Talks is a free open lecture series run by the University of Greenwich, University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University. All talks start at 6pm and are held at the Medway Campus, Chatham Maritime.
