Spa Valley Railway near Tunbridge Wells set to reopen for the August bank holiday weekend

It’s full steam ahead this bank holiday weekend as the Spa Valley Railway reopens.

The Tunbridge Wells attraction is back taking passengers on Saturday, August 29 to Bank Holiday Monday, and will be offering fish and chip lunches or cream teas on board to celebrate.

The carriages have been adapted to be COVID secure and to ensure social distancing can be maintained, while visitors must book in advance online.

There will be a choice of cod & chips, plain sausage & chips, as well as gluten free battered cod & chips, veggie burger & chips, followed by a slice of Victoria sponge.

Passengers can join the train from noon at Tunbridge Wells West and at 12.30pm the train will set off for Groombridge. While on board the freshly prepared fish and chip lunch will be served. Trains will arrive back at Tunbridge Wells West for around 1.30pm.

The cost for the journey with lunch is £20 and £14 for children aged two to 14.

There will also be cream teas on board over the weekend, on the train at 2pm from Tunbridge Wells West.

Each traditional cream tea will include a large sultana scone, clotted cream, jam and a cup of tea. The cost will be £20 for adults and £14 for ages two to 15.
