Try out your haggling skills and grab yourself some great deals at some of Kent’s best boot fairs…

Addington Boot Fair, near West Malling

From the May bank holiday weekend, the Addington Boot Fair is once again open for business. Organised by JPM Fairs, who have been hosting car boot sales for almost 15 years, this bargain hunt runs like a well-oiled machine so you can easily park up and start shopping. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for regular updates from JPM Fairs’ Joe McCarthey about the times, dates and weather conditions for each fair.

The Addington Boot Fair takes place on Saturdays at Meadow Crest Farm, London Road, Addington, near West Malling ME19 5AR.

Brenzett Thrift Farm Boot Fair, Romney Marsh

Grab your wellies and visit the farm for a day of shopping and plenty of fresh air. This countryside boot fair is open all weekend for bargain hunters looking for second-hand furniture, toys, ornaments and more, all in the great outdoors. There are refreshments and toilets available on site, so you’ll have everything you need as you stroll through the green fields of Romney Marsh.

Brenzett Thrift Farm Boot Fair takes place every Saturday and Sunday at Straight Lane, Brenzett, Brookland, Romney Marsh, TN29 9QT.

Farmboys Country Boot Sale, Gravesend

This large countryside boot fair makes for a busy Sunday morning as buyers from Gravesend, Dartford and beyond flock to the Fox Hounds Lane field. Luckily, the big, open space can hold plenty of cars and vans, meaning that you can pick up some excellent deals without feeling rushed or crowded. However, be prepared to turn up early as this boot fair is often busy and you don’t want to miss out on that special purchase.

The Farmboys Country Boot Sale takes place on Sundays at Middle Field, Fox Hounds Lane off Station Road, Southfleet, near Gravesend, DA13 9LH.

Hop Farm Boot Fairs, Paddock Wood

If you want a boot fair all-dayer, head to the Hop Farm and you can shop ‘til you drop right into the afternoon. The fairs at this family farm have been extended beyond the morning hours so you can have a lie-in before jumping in the car and heading over for a browse. While you’re there, you can also visit the Hop Farm Family Park and enjoy attractions such as the hop museum, soft play area, driving school, adventure playground and animal farm.

Hop Farm Boot Fairs take place on select dates throughout the year at Maidstone Road, Beltring, Paddock Wood, TN12 6QF.

Mark Greenfield’s Boot Fairs, Strood

For early risers, Mark Greenfield’s long-running Medway boot fair kicks off at the crack of dawn so you can take your haul home before lunchtime. Since 1982, the Greenfield family have been hosting large-scale boot fairs across the Medway towns and know the trade inside-out, ensuring a great day for both buyers and sellers. With ice cream vans, fresh seafood and meat stalls, hot food and refreshing drinks all available to buy alongside your second-hand bargains, this fair makes for a fun-filled day out.

Thanet Lions Boot Fair, Margate

Do your bit for charity with the Thanet Lions Boot Fair. Part of the Lions Clubs International, a voluntary group who work within the community to organise projects, events and activities which help fund local services, the boot fair is just one of the Lions’ many fundraising events. Hosted every other Sunday throughout the summer, the fair donates the pitch fees to good causes and also gives Thanet residents a chance to bag a good deal on pre-loved items.

Tilmanstone Boot Fair, Dover

Head to Dover for a coastal rummage through car boots and bric-a-brac stalls every Sunday morning. Weather permitting, the fair gives you the chance to find deals on vintage goods and collectables - and while you’re in town, why not make a day of it and take in views from the famous white cliffs or visit the historic Dover Castle?

Wallend Boot Fair, Sheppey

This family-run boot fair has been a staple of Sheppey for the past 12 years. If you’re thinking about enjoying a beach day on the island this summer, you might want to leave the house a little earlier and stop off at the Wallend Boot Fair along the way to pick up a few nearly-new goodies - you never know, you might find a parasol or windbreaker to take to the beach with you!
