Musical theatre star, Loose Woman and television personality Brenda Edwards will lead the cast of Cinderella this Christmas as the Churchill Theatre’s hugely popular annual pantomime returns to Bromley from Saturday 2 December to Sunday 31 December 2023.
Starring alongside Brenda as The Fairy Godmother will be ventriloquist John Kimmons as Baron Hardup, comedian Steven Dalziel as Buttons and actress Tia Gyngell as Cinderella.
Making wishes come true this Christmas, Brenda’s professional career started when she was the last woman standing in the 2005 season of The X Factor. Since The X Factor Brenda has gone on to take the musical theatre world by storm, playing roles in Chicago, We Will Rock You, Carousel and Hairspray.
Brenda also returned to We Will Rock You this summer for a hugely successful limited season at the London Coliseum, playing the role of the Killer Queen.
Discussing her role as The Fairy Godmother, Brenda said: “I love it, it’s a great role and really nice to be granting all these wishes.
“I’m so excited to be back in Pantoland this year!”
John Kimmons, meanwhile, will make his pantomime debut this year in Cinderella, having began his career aged 15 as a professional children’s entertainer and eventually going on to win the Children’s Entertainer World Championships at Blackpool Opera House in 2008.
Discussing this, John said: “I’m so excited! I can’t believe at 55, after 40 years in the industry, I’m finally getting to be in a pantomime. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.
“I have lots of fond memories of seeing pantos as a child at the Lyceum in Sheffield.”
