Herne Bay: Cartoon Festival returns to the pier for a sixth year

It's art - just as you know it. Cartoonists and caricaturists will be showing off their skills on the seafront this weekend as part of the month-long BayFest.

From traditional seaside art to satirical humour - it'll all be there.

Returning for a sixth year, the Herne Bay Cartoon Festival live event will be held on the pier on Sunday, August 5.

It will feature dozens of professional cartoonists and caricaturists hard at work putting paintbrush to paper.

Head down to the pier to see them in action between noon and 5pm - and it's free to watch.

While in the town, head to the Turning the Tide exhibition which is running at the Beach Creative in Beach Street until Sunday, August 12.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm daily, but closed on Mondays.

The events are part of the month-long BayFest festival of music and seaside events which run through to Bank Holiday Monday, August 27.

The community-run festival includes a range of beach events and fun kids events, including a magic show on Wednesday, August 8 at Herne Bay pier from 3.15pm and Punch and Judy with Pip the Clown also at the pier on Sunday, August 12 from 11am.

More than 500 classic cars will arrive on Sunday, August 19, for a motor show and there will be a Kent Tribute Festival on Sunday, August 26 and Herne Bay’s Got Talent on the pier that afternoon.
