Medway Comic and Screen Festival with John Challis plus Game of Thrones actors Ian McElhinney and Ian Beattie

Stars from Game of Thrones, Boycie from Only Fools and Horses, a T-Rex and a Dalek will all be at this weekend's first Medway Comic and Screen Festival.

The festival, organised by Adam Pace, Dave Morris and Russell Searle, takes place at Medway Park and it is hoped it will rival conventions in London.

The friends have all been involved in the comic and film convention scene for a number of years. Adam, 38, owns a comic book shop, Zukes, in Sturdee Avenue, Gillingham, and Dave, 42, and Russell, 31, are part of Iconic Legion, a charity costuming group.

They met seven months ago when Dave and Russell visited Adam’s shop and together they came up with the idea of organising their own comic-con type festival.

Adam said: “We talked about the things we thought were missing from conventions and what we felt could be done better.

“Afterwards we gave ourselves the ungodly task of organising a convention that is not only the first of its kind for the area, but can also rival those that are on offer in places like London’s Excel and Olympia.”

Game of Thrones actors Ian McElhinney and Ian Beattie plus John Challis, who plays Boycie in Only Fools and Horses, will be joined by stars from Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy and Star Wars.

Fans will also have a chance to have their photos taken with the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones, a T-Rex and a Dalek.

The festival is on Saturday, March 19, at Medway Park, Mill Road, Gillingham.

The show, which includes autograph sessions and stalls, will be open from 11am to 5pm, with tickets costing £10.
