The ABode, Canterbury High Street: Kent's top places for afternoon tea

The thought of clotted cream melting on a warm freshly cooked scone, with strawberry jam oozing from either side is enough to make anyone’s tummy rumble.

Sandwiches, scones, cakes and macaroons are all on offer with afternoon tea at the ABode, in Canterbury.

The boutique hotel is in the middle of the High Street, just minutes from the cathedral, while the city’s shops are right on the doorstep.

The hotel’s glitzy champagne bar has just been relaunched, offering more seats and new cocktails as well as an indulgent afternoon tea menu.

It’s a serene spot to escape the hubbub of the city.

The ABode’s traditional cream tea includes a fruit scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream plus a hot drink, for £8 per person.

If you’re into sweet and savoury, a traditional afternoon tea with finger sandwiches and cakes, tempting fruit tarts, moreish macaroons and scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream plus a drink, is £17.50 per person.

Something to celebrate? Then add a glass of Ridgeview English Sparkling Wine for just £7.50.

If the mood takes you, enjoy a cocktail or two in the trendy bar, which has a really laid back feel.
