The shopping centre in Greenhithe, near Dartford, is screening 13 films in what it calls its ‘Festive Flashbacks’ series from this Friday (November 24).

The series starts with a 20th anniversary screening of smash hit rom-com Love Actually.

The Richard Curtis tear-jerker was released in 2003 and features an ensemble cast including Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman.

For those who enjoy a touch of romance at Christmastime, The Holiday, starring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, will also be showing at the cinema in the coming weeks.

Another film celebrating 20 years is Elf, which will return to cinemas to mark the occasion from Friday, December 1.

The comedy stars Will Ferrell as Buddy, a human who is raised by Santa’s elves and travels to New York City to meet his biological family.

A host of family favourites will be shown at the cinema throughout December, including Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street and Arthur Christmas.

There will also be some true classics, including 1946’s It’s a Wonderful Life and 1950s musical White Christmas, which have been restored for the big screen.

For those who aren’t fans of traditional festive films, action blockbuster Die Hard will return to the cinema - as will the inevitable discussion about whether the Bruce Willis thriller really counts as a Christmas classic.

Jon Dixon, marketing manager at Showcase Cinemas, said: “It’s a delight to bring back so many Christmas classics to the big screen. Our flashback films are always popular and we’re sure these festive favourites will be no different.

“Whether you’re in the mood for a romantic comedy, all-out action or an animated favourite, there’s something for all cinemagoers to enjoy and help them get in the mood for Christmas over the coming weeks!”
