The Marlowe Studio in Canterbury hosts its first musical this weekend.
Lights Up Productions will perform When Midnight Strikes in the intimate performance space, created when the theatre underwent a £26.5m revamp in
2011.
First premiered in 2007, the witty musical is set at Jennifer West’s New Year’s Eve dinner party, which begins to fall apart following the revelation that her husband has been having an affair.
As the night unfolds, hidden secrets and regrets of all the guests rise to the surface in a story of love, betrayal and heartbreak.
The production will be directed by Canterbury Christ Church alumni and professional director Max Reynolds.
He said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing When Midnight Strikes to the Marlowe Studio, especially as it is the first musical in the venue. This is a witty, entertaining piece of musical theatre and put together with the intimacy of the venue, will charm the audiences and provoke both tears and laughter.”
When Midnight Strikes is at the Marlowe Studio on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31. Tickets £12. Call 01227 787787.
