Five fitness ideas to try at home and outside with online support

Lockdown doesn't have to mean not getting moving. We've sought out five ways to help you workout at home, whether you're an absolute beginner or a fully-fledged fitness fan.

1 Remote Run Club

If the Couch to 5K app isn't quite your thing, how about having a running coach that's remote, with different sessions from Kent-based running experts. The Kent Running Coach Remote Run Club will challenge you to three different run sessions each week, posted on the Facebook Page on Thursdays, Sundays and Tuesdays. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or veteran runner. Search the Kent Running Coach on Facebook.

2 Boxercise

Silky shorts are not essential, and no classes involve the physical hitting of anyone, but boxercise is a fun alternative to other cross training. Incorporating a combination of boxing movements and aerobics, it improves rhythm, co-ordination as well as burning calories. There are no classes to go along to currently, but several online options. The KentSport.org site also has a search option for you to find options near you or go here.

3 NHS Fitness Studio

We all know the value of the NHS these days, but did you know it also has a range of online exercise videos?

Take your pick from 24 instructor-led videos from aerobic exercise, to strength and resistance, and pilates and yoga. They have been created by fitness experts InstructorLive and range from 10 to 45 minutes.

You'll find exercises to tone your abs, raise your heart rate, and tone your upper arms, as well as workouts for new mums, and those with health issues, such as pilates for back pain. Visit nhs.uk/conditions/nhs-fitness-studio
