Events for the summer holidays in Kent including the Wind Festival, Medway Pride and Tractorfest

The weather may be cooling down (thank god) but there's still plenty of summer holiday action to be had before the end of August.

Here's five action-packed events coming up to check out...

KENT WIND FESTIVAL, Deal

Watch as a set of colourful kites take to the skies this weekend. The Kent Wind Festival welcomes the Kent Kite Flyers, a group of professionals who know how to set their kites soaring through the air, for a number of captivating displays. There will also be kite surfing demonstrations and workshops on how to make your very own kite available on the day for £5 per person. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own kites to the festival and see how their flying skills compare to the pros.

When: Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21 at Betteshanger Park in Deal. Entry is free, no need to book.

TRACTORFEST, Biddenden

Hop on a tractor and take a ride around the farm at this year’s Biddenden Tractorfest. This annual event, run entirely by volunteers and supported by the Kent County Agricultural Society, celebrates this essential farming vehicle with displays and tractor rides all day long. The weekend event also includes falconry displays, working horses, arts and craft stalls, children's entertainment, food and drink from local producers and live music from brilliant bands, all set in a beautiful countryside setting.

CAMP KINDLING, Sevenoaks

Sign the whole family up for summer camp this weekend. Camp Kindling fuses the experience of a family festival with an activity-packed summer camp for three days of more than 100 fun-filled things to see and do. Fill up your day with activities such as mountain biking, axe throwing, tree climbing, bread baking, pottery and family yoga and then, when the sun goes down, watch as the festival site turns into an enchanted forest with more than 50 music acts, from live bands to DJs, as well as comedy and story-telling performances.

FREE ART WEEK, Tunbridge Wells

The first ever Art Week in Tunbridge Wells will give visitors the opportunity to take part in more than 20 different arts and crafts activities for adults and children, including classes, workshops and talks, all completely free. Whether you want to improve your photography skills, impress your friends and family with homemade gifts or learn the art of watercolour painting, there is set to be a wide array of activities on offer. The event aims to showcase local businesses and creators from in and around the town.

MEDWAY PRIDE, Rochester

As Pride season comes to an end, this year’s Medway Pride is determined to make sure the celebrations go out with a bang. Kicking off with a colourful parade at 10.45am at Rochester's Star Hill, the performers, volunteers and community members will make their way up to the historic Rochester Castle and gardens where the party really begins. With a programme of live entertainment from DJs, singers, tribute acts and drag performers taking to the stage, this LGBTQ+ event will be one to remember.
