Nathan Sykes, formerly of The Wanted, came to KMTV studios at University of Kent

One fifth of the popular former boy band The Wanted, Nathan Sykes not long ago took the plunge to go solo.

The 22-year-old singer-songwriter came to the KMTV studios for an intimate session with 10 lucky kmfm competition winners.

There were tears, selfies and dizzy moments for the lucky few as he gave them a taste of his re-invented sound.

The Kiss Me Quick singer popped into KMTV's state-of-the-art studio at the University of Kent Medway campus, as part of his live lounge style tour across the country.

Nathan had a chat with kmfm's Glen Scott on the three-camera set, where he spoke about his new song Over and Over Again, which is officially released on Friday, November 20.

He said: "I wrote it in LA and everyone loved it for ages, at the label.

"I was sat there one day and was like this should be the next single."

The heartthrob pleased fans with his acoustic version of Drake's Hotline Bling and even took time at the end to sign autographs and take pictures.

Nathan was a member in The Wanted, who formed as a band in 2009.

Their hit single Glad You Came topped the UK charts for two weeks and sold three million copies in the US.

The rest of his former bandmates have gone on to new projects, with Jay McGuiness as a competitor on Strictly Come Dancing.
