Ramblers’ White Cliffs Walking Week returns with free countryside and coastal walks

A week-long walking festival is back with a brand new name after 10 years.

The White Cliffs Walking Week, previously known as the White Cliffs Walking Festival, is inviting members of the public to join in with seven days’ worth of nature trails and coastal strolls.

The event, hosted by walking group Ramblers, will be putting on a diverse programme of walks that are outside of the group’s usual routes.

Members can experience something different for the week and join as many walks as they wish, while non-members can get a taste of what the group has to offer by joining up to three walks per person.

The walks take place in some of Kent’s most picturesque locations, including Pegwell Bay Country Park in Ramsgate, the White Cliffs Country Trail in Deal, the historic dockyards in Chatham and the parkland surrounding Leeds Castle near Maidstone.

Depending on the route, walkers will be able to capture stunning views of coast and countryside.

For this year’s festival, the group have also focused on including a lunch or drinks break on as many walks as possible to emphasise the social aspect of the week.

The seafront walk from St Margaret’s in Dover includes drinks at the Zetland Arms in the nearby village of Kingsdown and the Walmer walk will pause for a stop at Solley’s Ice Cream Farm.

The walks vary in distance, difficulty and terrain, all of which are detailed in the online programme.
