It has been a just over a year since aspiring singer songwriter Jon Gomm was catapulted to stardom by a one-word message on Twitter.

But that Tweet - saying simply “wow” - was posted by none other than British comedy legend Stephen Fry, who has more than six million followers on Twitter.

Impressed by Jon’s unique guitar technique, which involves hitting different parts for percussive effect, Stephen posted a link to a video clip of him performing the self-penned single Passionflower.

It has since received more than four million hits on YouTube, and offers began flooding in for Leeds-born Jon to perform at venues around the world.

Since I got popular all of a sudden, it seems I’ve been playing everywhere on the planet, and I haven’t actually had time for a solo UK tour. So it’s about time.”
