Robert Plant to play Black Deer Festival in Eridge

Robert Plant is set to play at this summer's Black Deer Festival, organisers have announced.

Saving Grace featuring the Led Zeppelin singer will play at the Americana and country music festival, which will be held in Eridge near Tunbridge Wells from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21.

The Saving Grace co-operative also features singer Suzi Dian, with Oli Jefferson, Tony Kelsey and Matt Worley and rework a selection of diverse cover material.

Also joining the line-up is American country rock act and son of Willie Nelson, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, who recently collaborated with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for the multi-award winning A Star is Born soundtrack for their blockbusting film.

Irish singer Imelda May whose 17-year career has seen her collaborate with musical heavyweights such as Ronnie Wood, Jeff Beck and Jools Holland, will also be playing. Her recent Life Love Flesh Blood album, which was co-produced by roots legend T Bone Burnett is a former UK Americana Charts No.1.

Northumberland-based Jade Bird was a finalist for the BBC Sound Of Award in 2018 and her self-titled album went to No.1 in the UK Folk charts and No.1 in the UK charts. She also won the International Breakthrough award at the AIM Independent Music Awards last year.

Southend-based Sam Duckworth, who has made six studio album releases will be performing both past favourites and new songs and American folk duo Shovels & Rope, featuring husband and wife Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst, will play from their seven studios.

Nashville-born Shooter Jennings whose hits include The Gunslinger and Outlaw You, co-wrote and produced Guns ‘n’ Roses legend Duff McKagen’s 2019 solo record and recently recorded his father Waylon’s hit Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys, which is the theme to the Netflix series The Ranch, alongside Lukas Nelson.

Also playing will be Birds of Chicago married duo Allison Russelland JT Nero; UK alt-folk trio Wildwood Kin - sisters Beth and Emillie Key and their cousin Meghann Lonely - Texan country singer Wade Bowen; Canadian William Prince; BIMM Brighton alumnus, Josh Okeefe and Welsh trio the Goat Roper Rodeo Band.

They join an already-announced line-up of Wilco, the Waterboys, the Dead South, Courtney Marie Andrews and the Felice Brothers.

The festival aims to immerse visitors in the Americana way of life, with authentic smokehouse barbecue cooking and motorcycle culture.
