Popular Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant Shozna have recently expanded their already eclectic menu to include more delicious vegan and healthier options.

Open for more than 25 years, Shozna has today evolved into an award-winning restaurant offering customers a choice of contemporary Asian cuisine with a choice of settings.

Moving with the times as more and more people seek alternative lifestyles and lighter dietary requirements, Shozna has not been standing idle and its Executive Chef Jay Ahmed has included vibrant, delicious healthier and vegan options without losing the overall flavours that has made his restaurant so renowned over the years.

“Everybody has their own way of cooking and we have our own way or technique of cooking. People like our flavours so it works,” said Jay in an interview with KMTV.

.

“It’s not so much about adding spices. It’s about mixing spices but also balancing all the spices so you get the right flavour.”

For example, their Karahi option is just one of the vegetarian dishes available.

The dish is lightly spiced on purpose because vegetables have their own different flavours. Unlike meat they don’t want to overpower the flavour. Some of the other popular dishes include okra (ladies’ fingers) and samosas.

“Every dish has its own measurement and quantity,” continued Jay.

“But what is used and how much is our secret. That’s what differentiates us from the rest.”

Shozna prides itself on offering diners a more casual ambience of a ground level dining room that is vibrant and full of energy. But there is also the elegant charm and tranquillity of the upper dining room.

Shozna is located at 153 Maidstone Road in Rochester (ME1 1RR) and is open for lunch, dinner and for party hire.

The restaurant is open for lunch (takeaways and party bookings only) from 12pm to 1:30pm and evenings from Sundays to Thursday (5pm to 11pm) and Fridays and Saturdays (5pm to 12pm).
