Lambing season: where to see newborn lambs in Kent in 2024

Is there a sweeter sign of spring than newborn lambs frolicking in the fields?

If you want to go one step further and meet these lovable baby animals, here are eight spots in Kent where you can coo over them in the coming weeks…

Broadlees Farm, near Dover

Opening exclusively for the Easter break, this farm is giving visitors a rare chance to explore the grounds and find out what a busy working farm looks like. During the school holidays, there will be farmers on hand to tell you everything you need to know about lambing while you meet the cute baby animals.

Details: Good Friday to Sunday, April 14 at Broadlees Farm in Swingate, near Dover. Tickets cost £6 and can be purchased on the gate.

Four Winds Farm, near Tunbridge Wells

This working farm is throwing its annual lambing day this April, with sheep shearing demonstrations and sheepdog displays throughout the day. You will, of course, be able to see lots of newborn lambs and there will also be tractor and trailer rides, food and drink stalls and face painting.

Details: Saturday, April 20 at Four Winds Farm in Bidborough, near Tunbridge Wells, from 10am to 4pm. Tickets cost £8 and can be booked online here.

Frampton Farm, Dover

If you want to get some one-on-one time with baby animals, you can book a private session at Frampton Farm. These special visits are limited to six guests and give you and your family a chance to spend an hour with the lambs, kids and piglets without any crowds. You never know, you might even get to see some of the ewes and goats giving birth if you’re lucky!

Hadlow College, near Tonbridge

The lambing weekend at Hadlow College is one of the biggest animal events of the spring. The college, which specialises in agriculture and wildlife, will welcome visitors for two days to see the lambs, along with the site’s other spring arrivals. There will also be lots of activities, including competitions, tractor rides, birds of prey displays and a funfair, for families to enjoy.

Details: Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 at Hadlow College in Hadlow, near Tonbridge, from 11am to 4pm. Tickets cost £12 and can be booked online here.

Little Fant Farm, Maidstone

Budding farmers can join Little Fant Farm’s Little Farmer Club this March and learn what it’s like to live and work in the great outdoors. During the sessions, children can not only meet the lambs but also make their own cuddly lamb toy to take home. There will also be a trip to the Mud Kitchen where kids can get messy and playtime in the farm’s barn.

Kent Life, Maidstone

This family farm is home to a herd of friendly animals all year round but, if you visit during the springtime, you will be able to see the lambs being bottle-fed each day. These demonstrations will give visitors a chance to meet the lambs and also learn about how to look after them. Before heading home, don’t forget to spend time in the Paint-a-Pot studio Teddy Parlour and Mr Moo’s Messy Play.

Rare Breeds Centre, near Ashford

This animal attraction is celebrating the arrival of its lambs with an Easter extravaganza. Take a walk through the lambing tunnel and then join in with the rest of the school holiday activities, from feeding the pigs to completing the Easter trail and meeting the Easter Bunny. The centre’s Granary Restaurant and outdoor play parks will also be open.

Reindeer Centre, near Ashford

During the Easter holidays, the Reindeer Centre will be open to show off its adorable newborn animals. You can watch the lambs being bottle-fed and see the fluffy chicks before visiting the farm’s other animals, including donkeys, llamas, goats, guinea pigs, rabbits and, of course, reindeer. There will also be plenty of fun things to do over the school holidays, such as the carrot patch, bunny trail, sunflower planting, a bouncy castle and animal feeding.
